Well, as of yesterday summer's officially over, and with it comes a definite comedown from a season filled with new music (especially the day a few weeks ago that saw A$AP Mob, Lil Uzi Vert, XXXTENTACION, Action Bronson, Wiki, and Brockhampton all release albums). Our chart reflects that this week, with definitely a bit less star power than usual (save for a fewe exceptions).
PartyNextDoor leads the way with three appearances this week. No one else appears more than once. New tracks barely missing out on spots include Kodak Black's "1000s" (#12), Kodak's "Black Cats" (#14), Maroon 5 and SZA's "What Lovers Do" (#17), and Ty Dolla $ign, Skrillex & Damian Marley's "So Am I" (#19).
10. PartyNextDoor - Naked
PND hasn't really informed us what he's up to with all of these new loosies, but we're certainly not complaining. Following the release of "Damn" and "Break Me Down" two weeks ago, he shared a few new ones this past week as well. "Naked," despite being the lowest-performing of the three, still debuts at #10.
9. Kodak Black - Time Never Mattered (Do Not Disturb Freestyle)
Lil Kodak's also someone who's been mysteriously leaking out tracks in recent weeks, but the only difference is that he's already released two albums this year. This freestyle over one of Drake's More Life tracks is the only one to chart, and as is the case with most Kodak tracks, "Time Never Mattered" has a divisive user rating of 42%. Nevertheless, it debuts at #9.
DJ Kay Slay's Kendrick Lamar-Featured Posse Cut Hits #1">8. Rick Ross - Jumping Ship
Rozay's been reasonably quiet since the release of Rather You Than Me this spring, so right on schedule, he's back with a new single. "Jumping Ship" is pretty much his whole persona boiled down into one song: luxury, women, false boasts about drugs, and of course, yachts. THis one debuts at #8.
7. Frank Ocean - Provider
In what may prove to be the last episode of his "Blonded" Beats 1 show, Frank Ocean shared a new track, which was also accompanied by a video of a man modding out a boombox. "Provider" is a great companion to everything Ocean's released since his return last August, and with an 83% fan rating, most seem to agree. It debuts at #7.
6. Miguel Feat. Travis Scott - Sky Walker
The only repeat entry from last week, this new Miguel single benefits from the added star power of Travis Scott, as well as its undeniable catchiness. In its second week out, it's down four places from #2 to #6.
5. PartyNextDoor Feat. Ty Dolla $ign - Put it on Silent
PND first shared "Put it on Silent" alongside "Naked" earlier in the week, but then quickly added Ty Dolla on a guest verse. As it stands now, the first version still charted higher, but this one edges the other out in terms of user rating 71% to 69%. This version of "Put it on Silent" debuts at #5.
4. Tee Grizzley Feat. Meek Mill - Beef
Plenty of people have tapped Tee Grizzley's thrilling "First Day Out" as the spiritual successor to Meek Mill's "Dreams & Nightmares Intro" (personally, I think it's better), so it's only right that the two motor-mouths have joined forces for a new track. Outside of Throwback tracks, "Beef" is the highest rated song of the week, currently sitting at 89%. It debuts at #4.
3. PartyNextDoor - Put it on Silent
Well here's that aforementioned first version of PND's "Put it on Silent," which clearly got a leg up on the chart due to arriving before the Ty Dolla-assisted version. It's since been removed from SoundCloud, so maybe PND wants the second version to be the official one? THis one debuts at #3.
2. Eminem Feat. Lil Wayne - No Love
I can't remember another instance of throwback track hitting our top ten, but that should speak to the sway Em and Weezy have over HNHH users. If you've ever dissed either on the site, you know what I'm talking about. This Recovery cut debuts at #2.
1. DJ Kay Slay Feat. Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Kevin Gates & Rell - Cold Summer
Every now and then, a radio or mixtape DJ will get his hands on some high-profile verses and string together a posse cut of insane proportions. This is one of those times. Longstanding NYC DJ Kay Slay got some major players on the first single from his upcoming album Big Brother, and debuting at #1, "Cold Summer" does not disappoint.
