Kendrick Lamar gave fans a sneak peek of what he's bringing to the red carpet this year in collaboration with Chanel.

Kendrick Lamar isn't usually one to indulge in the heavily documented and extravagant trappings of fame. However, sometimes he pops out for these massive events, and makes sure he astonishes while doing so. Moreover, he took to his Instagram Story to preview his fit for the 2023 Met Gala, in collaboration with Chanel. Specifically, he rocked a nearly all-black fit with a leather jacket, slick pants, dress shoes, and an MLB hat to boot. Furthermore, he complimented the look with a white sweater and an orange-white Chanel fabric around his waist, which could be a bandana as much as it could be a handkerchief.

In fact, perhaps this environment of luxury and beauty is more fitting for the Compton legend than many might believe. After all, the 35-year-old recently wrapped up the highest-grossing rap tour of all time, beating out names like Kanye West, Jay-Z, Drake, and Travis Scott. Along with his cousin, frequent collaborator, and pgLang partner Baby Keem, they rocked the world with their performances. Kendrick Lamar likes to let the quality of his music and artistry speak for him, and that's exactly what backs up lavish looks like these.

Kendrick Lamar's 2023 Met Gala Fit

What's more is that it hasn't even been a full year since his last album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers dropped. Despite the short timeframe, fans still get ecstatic over Kendrick Lamar leaks no matter how old they are. In particular, two tracks recorded around 2013 recently surfaced online, showing us the creative process behind some of his greatest works. "Burn" and "Crooked" are just another example of the "United In Grief" MC's tendency to best other artists' released work with his throwaways.

Regardless, the former TDE artist is very serious and intentional with his art, so it's understandable that many of his ideas don't end up releasing. Moreover, Saviii 3rd recounted some important questions that he asks his collaborators. "One of the questions was: ‘Do you want to make music for your section, or do you want to make music for the world?’" he revealed. "Another one is: ‘What do you think your biggest flaw is when it comes to anything blocking your creativity?’ With this one, he put: ‘This is the one’ in parentheses, and he said: ‘What do you think is stopping you from being an ultimate superstar? Be truthful with yourself.’" Return to this piece with more pictures when Kendrick Lamar arrives at the Met Gala this year. Gabriel Bras Nevares is a music and pop culture news writer for HotNewHipHop. He started in 2022 as a weekend writer and, since joining the team full-time, has developed a strong knowledge in hip-hop news and releases. Whether it’s regular coverage or occasional interviews and album reviews, he continues to search for the most relevant news for his audience and find the best new releases in the genre. What excites him the most is finding pop culture stories of interest, as well as a deeper passion for the art form of hip-hop and its contemporary output. Specifically, Gabriel enjoys the fringes of rap music: the experimental, boundary-pushing, and raw alternatives to the mainstream sound. As a proud native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, he also stays up-to-date with the archipelago’s local scene and its biggest musical exponents in reggaetón, salsa, indie, and beyond. Before working at HotNewHipHop, Gabriel produced multiple short documentaries, artist interviews, venue spotlights, and audio podcasts on a variety of genres and musical figures. Hardcore punk and Go-go music defined much of his coverage during his time at the George Washington University in D.C. His favorite hip-hop artists working today are Tyler, The Creator, Boldy James, JPEGMAFIA, and Earl Sweatshirt.
