Creed III earned praise across the board but Cam’ron explained that he didn’t have any intention to watch the film. The Dipset rapper shared a photo of Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors, writing, “The reason I didn’t go see creed.” Some fans pushed back against Cam while others agreed with his sentiment. Isaac Hayes III pointed out the film’s success, writing, “Made $262 million at the box office. They good.”
Ultimately, Cam’s issues with the movie turned into a larger debacle surrounding homophobia in hip-hop. Skillz called out Cam before Masta Ace, and A Tribe Called Quest’s Jabori White slid into the comment sections. Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul commented under Skillz post and implored Cam to look past his own hesitancies and check out Creed III. “My brother missing out cause it's an Amazing movie! I've watched it five times and I'm not just saying that because we had the theme song in the trailer,” he wrote. Still, it doesn’t look like Cam’ron will end up catching the latest installment in the Creed series anytime soon.
Cam’ron Is Unapologetic
Beyond the rap community, it appears that a few people on the Internet have attempted to “cancel” Cam’ron but the rapper rejected these attempts. He hopped on Instagram this week to address anyone who wants to put his career on hold due to his comments. “How the fuck you gon’ cancel n***as who canceled they self, n***a?... Since 2007, I said, ‘Fuck the whole music shit,” he said. He added that he’s still moving projects, including Killa Season, which is now “quadruple platinum.”
“You can’t cancel n***as who canceled themselves and don’t give a f*ck,” he continued. “We left when we wanted to leave. Fuck cancel culture. We started it with ourselves. You sound stupid.” Cam’ron evidently isn’t folding to the public pressure or any scrutiny that comes his way. The rapper is currently producing and hosting his own sports talk show titled It Is What It Is alongside Ma$e, who also appeared in Cam’s video.
