Summer Walker is not going to stand for any slander about her children. The R&B singer, who just turned 27, took to Instagram to post about the happy occasion. In the caption, she opened up about achieving so much success at a young age. She also expressed gratitude for her career and her children. "I can’t believe all I’ve accomplished being so young," Walker said. "3 beautiful healthy kids, rich in love, rich in wealth, rich in knowledge, rich in spirit, & most importantly rich in happiness."
Summer Walker got her start in 2017 when she signed with Interscope Records. She released her first mixtape, Last Day of Summer, the following year. Then, in 2019, the singer got her first Top 20 hit with the song "Playing Games." The song was a cut from her first studio album, Over It. The album itself broke the record for the biggest streaming debut week for a female R&B artist. It has since been certified platinum. Walker's sophomore album, Still Over It, was released in 2021. It debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. She also broke her own streaming record set by her debut album. This May, Walker plans to release her second EP, Clear 2: Soft Life.
Walker Says 3 Kids Is Only The Beginning
On Walker's Instagram post, many were quick to show their shock at her age. Many seemed not to know that she already had three children. Furthermore, some said that she was far too young to have that many kids. "27 w 3 kids," one said. "Sounds like you rich in misery to me." Another user was quick to rush to Walker's defense, however. "Just bc your mom was 3 kids deep and miserable don't mean the next woman is..." they responded. "27 and RICH is what she said."
Summer Walker herself seems to have seen the comments because she responded on her Instagram stories. Unlike the users in the comments, Walker stayed as classy as possible in her response. "I would literally be SO sad if I ain't have 3 kids right now," she said. "Once I sign some more checks Ima have more." Looks like the singer remains unbothered by the trolls.
