Quavo may be delving into a new genre on a future project. The 32-year-old achieved fame as co-founder and frontman of Migos. However, the Atlanta native is still dealing with the death of his nephew and bandmate Takeoff. The 31-year-old was shot and killed at a bowling alley last year, Quavo has been open about his understandable struggles with depression since Takeoff's death. However. he has found inspiration through his work and faith. He revealed in a recent interview that he would be open to working on a gospel project.
The revelation comes on the heels of Quavo's acting debut. The rapper stars alongside Chloe Bailey and Anjelika Washington in the Peacock Original film Praise This. The film is centered around finding purpose and strength through faith. It is set in the competitive world of youth praise teams. Quavo recently sat down with Vibe to discuss his experience on the film and his future projects. When asked if he would continue exploring his faith through music, Quavo seemed open to the idea. "I wouldn't mind," he said. "I like working with gospel artists."
Quavo Relies On Faith Following Takeoff's Death
Moreover, Quavo says he admires gospel artists who have used their faith to overcome similar obstacles. "I think that they feel that’s how they got it. And I got it out the mud in another different lane. But whenever we cross [paths] and get together, I think, ‘Yes, we should do something.’" Subsequently, Quavo revealed that he landed the acting role due to his relationship with the film's producer, Will Packer. "We’re good friends," Quavo said. "I’ve been telling him to put me in something."
Meanwhile, the artist also enjoyed the film's more irreverent take on religion. "It’s that kind of irreverent, a little bit of edgy movie, but it does have something to say about the fact that you don’t have to be a traditional churchgoer." he said, Furthermore, Quavo has confirmed that his next project is a solo album called Rocket Power. The album will be a heartfelt tribute to Takeoff, Quavo hasn't shared details about when the project will drop. However, most fans expect to be an emotional send-up to the late rapper.
