Tyga shares the new 808 Mafia produced loosie "My Way."

When Bitch I'm The Shit 2 dropped a while back, many felt as if the album marked a return to form for T-Raww. Free of the Kardashian curse that tends to strike both rappers and basketball players with shared intensity, Tyga's recent music has been filled with a clear sense of both confidence and purpose.  In the first of two new songs, Tyga sets things with an ever-timeless Harambe reference, leaving us wondering if the now-deceased gorilla's legacy will ever truly leave us. He proceeds to hold it down over a feverish beat from 808 Mafia, who pairs a frantic synth arrangement with up-tempo drums.

While the chorus is overall pretty lackluster, Tyga comes through with enough charm and witty lyrics to carry the track. "They come at me sideways, I might go Kanye," he raps, before barraging our ears with a wild, animalistic sample of Kanye going "AH!" It's actually pretty hilariously done, and helps elevate Tyga's otherwise phoned in flow. In spite of the somewhat lazy "yeah" closing off every bar, Tyga continues to keep things interesting with a few choice references, most notably to Nelly's timeless E.I; between that and a D12 reference on Teterboro Flow, it stands to reason that Tyga's a fan of early two-thousands hip-hop.

It may sound like I'm being hard on this track, and maybe I am. It is, after all, an enjoyable listen with some dope production from 808 Mafia. Yet the fact remains that Tyga fails to live up to his promise of going Harambe, opting instead for a subdued performance which relies a little too heavily on the cleverness of his lines. Still, "My Way" is worth a listen, and it's a solid may to soundtrack your Monday morning drive. Bump this one before your latte, yeah.

Quotable Lyrics

I'm doin' it my way, yeah
Keep doin'what I say, yeah
She suck my dick in the mornin' before her latte, yeah
