Saturday evening, OVO signee Roy Woods made his way onto the setlist of the 51st episode of OVO Sound Radio to deliver on new sounds.
While the episode also served as an avenue for a new premiere from The Weeknd, the OVO signee also took hold of the opportunity to tease his forthcoming Say Less project. with a few novice cuts. The new track “New New” features Rich the Kid, an apparently upbeat contrast to the rather understated style that Woods has adopted for himself.
Naturally, Roy took to social media to tease the arrival of the new music this week on OVO Sound Radio, writing, “You’ll Hear Me On 2 New Songs Today,” on Twitter prior to the show’s airing on Saturday.
The second song in question would be another track titled “City” in which Roy lends one verse alongside Sha Hustle and Rodzilla.
Roy Woods’ upcoming Say Less effort was only one of a host of projects scheduled for release this year from the OVO camp. Other projects slated for release Majid Jordan's The Space Between, DVSN's The Morning After, and Club Atlantis from PARTYNEXTDOOR.
Woods' debut album Waking at Dawn arrived back in the summer of last year, thrusting the young singer and rapper into the spotlight that comes with a Drake cosign and a check courtesy of the October’s Very Own imprint. The last full-length effort we got from the Brampton-bred artist was his Nocturnal EP in December of the same year. Now as we anticipate the delivery of Say Less and all the other projects in its midst, all eyes will be on the OVO squadron as they unleash a series of efforts that will surely only continue to cement their reign over the gray area where Hip-Hop and R&B intersect.
