After his incredible performance at the Grammy’s last night, anyone who didn’t already know Kendrick Lamar is from Compton knows now. Exhibiting fantastic timing, Vice’s music vertical Noisey released the first of six episodes about Kendrick’s hometown.
The video takes viewers (and Noisey’s typically fish-out-of-water host), into Bompton with Kendrick Lamar himself. The newly-anointed Grammy winner spoke on his musical subject matter before the documentary goes on to explore some of the other parts of Kendrick’s history, including his high school and friendship with Lil L, an elementary school homie of Kendrick's. It's a real-as-it-gets look at life in the ghetto, and you can bet we'll be sharing the episodes as they roll out.
