“I’m just not built like that."

Kevin Durant joining the Golden State Warriors this past off season was like a kid getting beat up by a bully's gang and then wanting to join that gang to avoid getting beat up again. At least, that's how Paul Pierce feels.

The Truth made an appearance on ESPN's "The Jump" yesterday and made the KD joining the bullies comparison, adding "I mean I’m gonna stand up for myself, that’s just the competitive nature of where I come from, the era I grew up in.”

“I’m just not built like that,” Pierce said. “I’m not a guy who goes into the neighborhood, gets beat up the bully’s gang, and then now I want to join your gang. That’s just not me. I wanna fight, let’s go. I mean I’m gonna stand up for myself, that’s just the competitive nature of where I come from, the era I grew up in.”

Of course, Pierce once teamed up with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in Boston to form their own "super team," but those players were traded to the Celtics as opposed to simply "joining the gang" in free agency like KD did.

This isn't the first time and it won't be the last time that Durant is criticized for signing with the Warriors, but honestly I think we're all just ready for the NBA Finals to finally get underway (tomorrow night, 9pm EST).
