Travis Scott's star has been rising steadily ever since he first showed up on the scene. You'd be hard pressed to find low points or lulls in his career, and despite still having plenty of detractors, he still seems to be gaining new fans with each ensuing release. How long can he keep this trajectory up? That's up for debate, but if this week's edition of Top Tracks tells us anything, it's that Scott's glo up is still incomplete.
Scott leads all artists with three appearances this week, and behind him are Young Thug and Quavo with two apiece. New songs barely missing out on spots this week include Juicy J and Lil Wayne's "Army Green & Navy Blue" (#13), Black Youngsta's "Birthday" (#14), Chance The Rapper and Kaytranada's "And They Say" (#15), and T-Pain and Lil Wayne's "Heavy Chevy" (#16).
10. Yo Gotti Feat. Meek Mill - Top Lookin Down
Yo Gotti celebrated his birthday last week, and in honor of an upcoming tour with Meek Mill, the duo dropped off a new track called "Top Lookin Down." Along with this month's Meekend Music EP, this is part of a new flurry of activity for Meek, perhaps suggesting that he's in album mode? Time will tell. "Top Lookin Down" debuts at #10.
9. Bryson Tiller Feat. Young Thug - Get Mine
We're about a week and a half out from Bryson Tiller releasing three new tracks and announcing his new album, True To Self, and despite all three appearing on last week's Top Tracks list, only one remains this time around. Obviously it's the Thugger-featuring "Get Mine," which performed the best last week. In its second week out, the track falls seven spots from #2 to #9.
8. Young Thug - Free Blac Youngsta
Thugger's second appearance of the week comes back-to-back from #9 to #8, the latter being a loosie he shared last week in tribute to then-incarcerated Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta. "Free Blac Youngsta" was successful in its goal, as the titular rapper was freed the next day. Thugstradamus. This track debuts at #8.
7. Juicy J Feat. Chris Brown & Quavo - Leanin
The Juiceman shared a new tape by the name of Gas Face last week, and in addition to the Lil Wayne-assisted "Army Green & Navy Blue," "Leanin" is one of its star-studded cuts. It's also one of many recent tracks to feature solo Quavo rather than the full Migos-- dude is definitely getting his feature money this year. "Leanin" debuts at #7.
6. T-Pain & Lil Wayne - Listen To Me
T-Pain and Lil Wayne recorded all of the recently-released T-Wayne tape in 2009 or earlier, but even by that time, there was already a fire song that sampled the Oompa Loompas from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Da Backwudz's 2006 hit "I Don't Like the Look of It" completely murked that concept, but Wayne and Pain clearly thought they could do a better job of it (spoiler alert: they didn't). Nevertheless, "Listen To Me" debuts at #6.
5. Desiigner - Outlet
Once again, Desiigner's 2017 single hangs on for another week. What's more, it continues to buck a downward trend, bouncing back and forth around the middle of the top ten for just about four months now. In its 16th week out, "Outlet" is up two spots from #7 to #5.
4. ASAP Rocky Feat. Frank Ocean, Quavo & Lil Uzi Vert - RAF (Radio Rip)
During a surprise edition of Frank Ocean's Blonded radio show very early last Monday morning, he premiered two versions of a new ASAP Rocky posse cut called "RAF." Thus far, we only have the radio rip, which is probably why this song didn't chart higher, but be on the lookout for this to become a massive summer banger. "RAF" debuts at #4.
3. Travis Scott - A Man
Following in the footsteps of Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill, and Bryson Tiller, Travis Scott opted to drop three new tracks all at once last week. The least star-studded of these is the Southside-produced "A Man," so thusly it hasn't performed as well as the two others, despite the fact that it might be the catchiest of the three. This one debuts at #3.
2. Travis Scott - Butterfly Effect
"Prod. by Murda Beatz" is becoming more and more of an in-demand tag on tracks, as is evidenced here with "Butterfly Effect" trumping the Southside-produced cut of Travis' three recent tracks. Somewhat surprisingly, "Butterfly Effect" does not feature a flute or a recorder! It debuts at #2.
1. Travis Scott Feat. Playboi Carti - Green & Purple
This was obviously going to be #1. Throwing some Carti ad-libs on this track, Trav got himself a track that notched 30,000 more views than either of his other new ones. "Green & Purple" is sure to appeal to fans of both artists, and given Carti's recent success, it might even have a shot on the Billboard 100. This one debuts at #1.
