Philadelphia Sixers #1 pick Ben Simmons broke a bone in his right foot about a week ago and is expected to undergo surgery sometime this week. A timetable for hasn't been declared but rumors are already circulating that Simmons' agent, Rich Paul, has already determined his client's future.
The Philadelphia Daily News' Bob Cooney reportedly told 975 The Fanatic that "there's no way his agent will let him play this season."
The Sixers are certainly no stranger to injuries as Nerlens Noel missed all of 2013 recovering from a torn ACL and Joel Embiid, drafted in 2014, has yet to suit up for a game due to a slue of injuries.
Sixers President Bryan Colangelo has told the media that they won't rush Simmons back until he's fully healthy, but if their #1 pick listens to his agent it looks like that time won't come until the 2017 season.
That's not great news for Sixers fans who were hoping to see their young core form some chemistry this season... in fact, it flat out sucks. But it's not the end of the world if Simmons opts to sit out his rookie season rather than rush back to the court in January or February and risk further injury.
