I was M.I.A. last week but now I'm back! Last week was massive, a lot of big tunes were dropping every day and some smaller ones dropped that were equally ill (if not iller). It saddens me to say that summer is almost over, but if you're heading back to school, at least you'll have some sick music to help you get through the day. In this week's UA, Brother Ali takes on the "3 Kings" instrumental, we get some fresh ish from Ab-Soul & Logic, as well as a dope remix from artist JMSN.
Brother Ali- 4th King (Prod. By Jake One)
Seeing as how closely Brother Ali and producer Jake One have worked together in the past, it's no surprise that Jake One sent the beat he did for Rick Ross' “3 Kings” to Ali. Ali's voice is perfect over this kind of beat, and he gives it his own spin, calling himself the 4th King.
Ab-Soul- Nibiriu (Prod. By JMSN)
For TDE's Fan Appreciation Week, we got a new record from each Black Hippy member, all of which were dope, but Ab-Soul's was definitely my favorite. For a change, Ab-Soul goes in over a beat which isn't produced by one of the TDE in-house producers, instead it's from artist JMSN. Still, it's the perfect kind of beat for Ab-Soul, very conceptual and intricate. Crazy shit.
Logic- Chain (Prod. By 6ix)
Logic's been gone for a minute after the release of his mixtape Undeniable, but now he's back at it. His brand new single “Chain,” has different subject matter than what you might except from the name (but then again, if you're familiar with Logic's music, the content of the song is not a surprise at all). With a hook sampling Gucci Mane, Logic raps about how come rappers like their chains so much, and what it really means to him.
JMSN- Somewhere (Remix) Feat. Gilbere Forte, ANTHM & Deniro Farrar
Speaking of JMSN, this remix of his song “Somewhere” is some smooth shit. Not your typical hip-hop that gets posted on HNHH. Weird, new-age R&B with some rap is my favorite!
