Today, The Game became the first major rapper to chime in on the controversy between Lil Wayne and Young Thug. He had to choose Blood over Blood, and, unsurprisingly, chose Carter over Barter, and warned Thugga not to step foot anywhere in the Golden State.

Though it was only a matter of time before someone defended Lil Weezyana, it's not surprising The Game was the first to do so. Though it's only day one, and threats have been issued on both sides, Game's latest Instagram spiff is merely is road kill in the context of his storied history of high-quality beefs. Without further adieu, here's a (brief) history of Game's most noteworthy beefs, including all the prime cuts.

Young Thug

A Brief History Of The Game's Beefs

Of course, this is the beef that sparked this list. Earlier today, footage of The Game at some random event circulated on Instagram, wherein the self-identified Piru claimed that "My nigga Tune ain’t never been Hollywood, he’s just Hollygrove." We don't have the details as to what provoked these comments, however The Game went on to threaten Young Thug by saying, "I will fuck Young Thug up," and later, "I’ma do a nigga like I did 40 Glocc." So we can probably expect video footage of The Game chasing Thugger around a mansion, if he’s true to his words.

Following the initial outburst from The Game going viral, Thugger Thugger responded with his own Instagram video. He retaliated by pointing out that The Game was once a stripper, and has apparently flip-flopped from a Crip to a Blood: "And you was a male stripper once before, so I don't want to fight you, don't want no germs from you pussy nigga. And you know I'm in L.A. more than Arnold Schwarzenegger, and he the governor, fuck nigga!" he declared, obviously not up to date on the current political landscape. Things didn’t quiet down just then, as The Game decided to respond to that too. From the comfort of his bed, the West Coast rapper fired off words about Thug’s feminine tendencies, from nail-painting to calling his bros "baes." While Thugger hasn’t offered a reply since, his Instagram has since been spammed with overwhelming amount of pink-nail emojis, which Game referred to as "Young Thang’s" logo.

2014 XXL Freshmen

A Brief History Of The Game's Beefs

On "Bigger Than Me," the opening song on Game's last album Blood Moon: Year of the Wolf, he takes up arms against pretty much all of the "new guys," though he specifically throws shots at the entire 2014 XXL Freshmen class: "I came in with 'Ye, Jeezy, and boss ass niggas / Your Freshmen cover a whole bunch of soft ass niggas."

He then tells Frank Ocean, presumably because of his sexuality, to "go ahead and fuck these niggas." And name-drops one more R&B artist to finish things off: "The industry soft, I should let Miguel sing on this motherfucker."

Lil Durk

A Brief History Of The Game's Beefs

One of the guys pictured on last year's XXL was Lil Durk, the main catalyst of Game's fury toward the younger generation. It started when Tyga, an L.A. compadre of Game's, asked the Chicago drill rapper/singer to edit a Blacc Chyna line out of one of his tracks, but was then unwilling to collaborate with the Chi-town rapper. Durk responded by dissing T-raww on his "Chiraq (Remix)" with Meek Mill & Shy Glizzy, and Tyga fired back with a re-remix on "Chiraq to L.A."

For no apparent reason, Game saw Tyga's diss track as a good opportunity to continue sending shots at 40 Glocc (who you'll meet later)--though he also sides with Tyga against Lil Durk, or rather: "Dirk Nowitzki?" Clearly he'd never heard of Durk before the track, though he just earned himself a new enemy.

Two months later, the two rappers squashed the beef over the phone, and then tweeted out "Chiraq x L.A.," this time, with love.

40 Glocc

A Brief History Of The Game's Beefs

If you've ever heard of 40 Glocc, it's probably because of this video of The Game whooping his ass, which he posted on the website 40GloccGotKTFO.com, which, amazingly, is still active. The footage is shoddy--because Game's actually filming while he's throwing punches--but we see Game land a few good jabs. The video ends pointed at Game's blood-covered Jordans, quickly scuffling along as he's afraid of 40 snitching to the five-o.

Glocc claims the spotty footage didn't catch what really went down, saying that Game was joined by about 15 fully-armed gangmembers. He then filed a lawsuit against the CPT rapper--fatter than anyone was expecting--for $4.5. million (including 750k in "lost earrings").

You think Game can catch Thugga in similar fashion?

Iphone in my left hand..... Mayweather'n this nigga with my right !!! #AtTheSameDamnTime

50 Cent & G-Unit

A Brief History Of The Game's Beefs

In order to get the most out of The Game's debut, Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine introduced him to G-Unit and 50 Cent, who got on three tracks on The Documentary, before the two quickly became sparring partners. which featured The beef began with business tensions, as 50's album release was stalled to accommodate The Documentary

Things soon got ugly, though, as 50 publicly dismissed The Game from G-Unit on HOT 97. Soon after 50's words hit the airwaves, still during the interview, Game made an attempt to break into the HOT 97 HQ's. Security barred him from entry, but an altercation ensued outside of the building, and a member of Game's entourage sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound. The same night, shots were heard outside of the building that houses Violator management, client of Fiddy's, though no one was hurt.

That summer, Game put out "300 Bars & Runnin," beginning the "G-g-g-U-NOT" movement. We could give you quotes, but you get it from the title--300 bars (15 minutes), all directed at 50 & G-Unit.

The beef simmered soon simmered down, and in 2009, Game publicly sent a peace offering the way of 50, who didn't respond. Last year, we caught concert footage of Game saying "fuck G-Unit," seeming to confirm 50's later accusations of the Compton rapper's bipolarity.

A Brief History Of The Game's Beefs

The Game and Jay Z went at it pretty early on his career (or rather, The Game went at Jay, and Jay kinda-sorta acknowledged him), which as he stated during a 2012 interview with VIBE, "I was probably one of the only cats that went at Jay Z's neck and still had a career after."  "Jay never responded," The Game continued, "I think he knows I’m reckless and there’s nothing I can’t say."

The origin of the beef isn't all too clear, but apparently it started when Game caught wind of a few negative comments Hov made regarding the era of rappers Game was coming up with. Whatever the case, The Game maintained the beef somewhat single-handedly throughout the entirety of his career. On the record "One Blood" (off his second LP Doctor’s Advocate), The Game alludes to Jay with the line, "You 38 and you still rapping? Urgh / I'm 26 nigga, so is the dubs" (and then in the second verse he claims, "I ain’t got no beef with 50, no beef with Jay / What’s beef when you getting head in the six-tre"…hmmm). Shots continued here and there, on records like "My Bitch" (that’s actually a three-in-one, with both Suge and Fif catching flack too) and "Uncle Otis," the latter of which was as recent as 2011. Seems like Game just didn't want to let go.

No matter, Hova refused to really take the bait, save for during one live performance of his "Blueprint 3 Intro."

Gucci Mane

A Brief History Of The Game's Beefs

In 2012, Gucci sent a tweet out challenging any rapper willing to step in the ring with him. Unsurprisingly, Game was first to respond, though his intentions were seemingly friendly (watch the video below).

Presumably, due to legal troubles, it took over two years for Gucci to re-answer to Game's acceptance of his challenge. Seemingly out of nowhere, Gucci aimed a diss track at Game, calling him the epitome of a "rap nigga"; "On Twitter talkin' about how you wanna scrap nigga / Well I'll knock you out and drag you to the trap nigga."

These days, as Gucci sits in jail, we have to take his shots with a grain of salt. We all remember 2013's codeine binge in which he basically claimed to have slept with the spouse of every big-name rapper. Anyway, we know this is hardly a "beef," but the thought of GuWop and The Game sparring it out is indeed intriguing.

We're sure Gucci Balboa's boxing skills have only sharpened in prison, and the only thing holding him back is the codeine pocket that hangs over his belt. We just saw Game's right hook in action, so imagine what he can do when he's not playing cameraman. When Gucci's out, we could have another #MayPac on our hands...
