Will Smith is getting candid about his divorce from his first wife, Sheree Fletcher, on the Father's Day episode of Red Table Talk this week. The actor sat down with his current wife and host of the show, Jada Pinkett Smith, to discuss how his first marriage went up in flames and what it was like raising his eldest son, Trey, whom he had with Sheree.

"I want to talk about one interesting concept that you’ve brought up quite a bit in regards to Trey and divorce," Jada told Will in a sneak peek preview of the episode, "and the idea being that just because a man might not be the best husband, does not mean he isn’t a good father."

"With Sheree and with Trey, that was a really difficult time," Will said. "Divorce was the worst thing in my adult life, divorce was the ultimate failure for me. I’ve been hurt a lot in my adult life, but I don't think anything touches the failure of getting divorced from my 2-year-old son’s mother."

Sheree actually appeared in the very first episode of Red Table Talk in May 2018, in which she and Jada discussed their formerly tense relationship and how they managed to grow closer despite the circumstances. "Do you remember that conversation we had on the phone that one time?" Jada asked Sheree in the debut episode. "They were fighting words." Sheree had called the house to speak to then-3-year-old Trey, when things got a little hostile between her and Jada. "You basically let me know, 'I don’t really appreciate your tone,'" Jada told Sheree. "And you hung up on me." Things escalated, but the two ladies ultimately made up, and they've developed an amicable dynamic since.

The Father's Day episode of Red Table Talk airs this Sunday, June 21 at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET.
