#WendysIsOver began to trend after a report surfaced claiming that the company's CEO donated $440K to Trump's re-election campaign.

America is enduring tense times as protests and riots have swept across the country following the police-involved killing of George Floyd. Millions of people have taken to the streets of not only the U.S., but in the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and Amsterdam. President Donald Trump has been repeatedly criticized for how he's handled the situation in the U.S. as rioters and looters have stormed to the streets, and as he promises to mobilize "heavily armed" military and civilian forces, people are blasting Trump with accusations that he's waging war on American citizens. In the wake of the controversy, fast-food chain Wendy's found itself in trouble with the masses after #WendysIsOver started to trend due to their CEO's support of the president.

Wendy's is a pop culture favorite on social media because of their snarky remarks and clever clap backs, but when it was revealed that the company CEO made a massive donation to Trump's re-election campaign, many American citizens weren't happy. According to a report made by Business Insider, Muy Cos. CEO James Bodenstedt gave $440K to the campaign last month. "Muy Cos. owns and operates hundreds of Wendy's, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut locations across the US," BI wrote. Even so, for some reason, #WendyIsOver began trending without calling out any other restaurants.

That wasn't the only hefty donation made by Bodenstedt; back in March, he dropped $200K to the Trump Victory PAC. We've pulled together a few posts from the trend on Twitter, so check that out below.
