Tyronn Lue is positioning himself for a reunion with LeBron James & his former employers, "the Purple & Gold."

According to the Los Angeles Times, Tyronn Lue came out swinging in his interview for the Lakers' head coaching position. It's been belabored to death, Ty Lue is likely LeBron James, so unless he really fugged his interview, the job was always going to be his to lose. If the LA Times is to be believed, Lue left a "lasting impression" on the Lakers' brass in the second round of interviews on Wednesday.

At this critical point of the recruitment process, only Monty Williams stands in the way of Lue rejoining the franchise he played for the franchise in the early 2000s, during the fertile Kobe-Shaq era.

Monty Williams currently works as an assistant on Brett Brown's 76er's coaching staff. Jason Kidd also interviewed for the head coaching role but seems to be a distant third, if not completely out of the running for the job, at this point in time. Neither one of Williams or Lue were outright" offered the job and neither was given a timetable on when the Lakers will make their decision," according to the Los Angeles Times. That means, the Los Angeles Lakers want to bide their time, before rushing a decision. The comparison computes like this: Monty Williams may have a greater coaching pedigree in the NBA, but Lue's intangibles more than make up for the gap in relative skill/experience.
