Trout will be with the Angels until he is 40.

Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels shocked the sports world this week when the two parties agreed to a 12-year deal worth $430 million. It is the largest contract in not just baseball history, but sports history as well. There were rumors that Trout could end up with the Philadelphia Phillies and Bryce Harper when his current contract expires, although it's clear the Angels wanted to make sure that Trout stays put. This contract ensures that the best player in baseball remains in Los Angeles until 2030 which would make Trout 40 years old.

In a statement issued by the team, Trout explained his decision to remain in Los Angeles.

"This is where I wanted to be all along," Trout explained. "I have enjoyed my time as an Angel and look forward to representing the organization, my teammates and our fans for years to come. I want to thank Arte and Carole Moreno for their efforts. Their leadership and commitment to winning played a key role in my decision. Thanks also to my teammates, coaches, John Carpino, Billy Eppler and his Baseball Operations staff, the entire front office and Angels fans for all their support. It has made a tremendous difference not only for me but for my family as well!"

While Trout has had quite a bit of individual success, the Angels have struggled at times despite Trout's presence. In his seven full seasons with the team, the Angels have only played in three playoff games.
