Ella Mai has earned her first look at No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums chart with her self-titled debut project. In the week ending October 18th, Ella garnered 69,000 units for her 16-song output.
As announced last week, this earned her a spot at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and also gave er a spot at No. 4 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart. While Ella Mai is host to breakout single "Boo'd Up" and "Trip," the album also gives way to new single from the singer-songwriter to enter the Hot R&B songs chart as she logs five additonal tracks with “Gut Feeling,” featuring H.E.R. at No. 11, the John Legend-assisted “Everything” at No. 14, “Good Bad” at No. 18, “Shot Clock” at No. 20, and “Sauce at No. 23.
In total Ella Mai claims nine songs on the chart in total as the previously released "Naked" and Chris Brown-assisted "Whatchamacallit" both rise in the ranks, hitting No. 17 and No. 7, respectively.
It's a strong season for the 10 Summers signee as she enjoys the fruits of breakout success. This year, "Boo'd Up" as earned her the distinction of the female artist with the most time at No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart while dominating the Hot R&B Songs chart for 13 weeks straight with all signs strongly pointing toward a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist at the 2019 ceremonies.
