Tekashi 6ix9ine is currently facing a possible life sentence, but his legal team is trying to make sure that doesn't happen. His lawyer, Lance Lazarro, told The Blast that the rapper is simply putting on a "gangster image" for entertainment purposes and that it doesn't mean he's actually a member of an illegal enterprise.
6ix9ine's lawyer is maintaining his client's innocence throughout this trial and believes the charges will get dismissed. Lazzaro claims his client is "an entertainer who portrays a 'gangster image' to promote his music," which "does not make him a member of an enterprise." He continued to say, “Mr. Hernandez became victim of this enterprise and later took steps by firing employees and publicly denounced this enterprise through a morning show.”
Following the arrest, reports claimed that 6ix9ine's safety was in jeopardy by the former associates that he fired last week. Lazarro confirmed that 6ix9ine was actually in danger, although he didn't share any other details. "Threats were made against his life which resulted in this case being brought immediately," he said.
6ix9ine is currently being held in generation population of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. The rapper is facing six counts of racketeering and firearms charges.
6ix9ine's DUMMY BOY album, which was set to drop later this week, has reportedly been pushed back. While there hasn't been much information as to why it was pushed back, his recent arrest may have played a factor in that decision.
