South Florida's Anonymuz leaves a lasting impression on his latest.

"I need Obama back, I feel like I need a trauma pack, for my psyche I might need a hollow tip," raps Anonymuz, on somber There Is No Threat opener "Sun Down." The track is the first of many bangers, each of which finds the South Florida rapper navigating a rich and ominous blend of atmospheric production. Elements of haze tend to permeate the aesthetic, with drifting synth pads, cut only by the fierce presence of distorted leads. No matter the vibe, Anon approaches each instrumental with a technically sound approach, bringing a welcome combination of lyricism and energy when the occasion calls for it.

There Is No Threat is not his first album, but it feels like a worthwhile introduction for anyone looking to discover a promising new voice. For the unconvinced, check out closer "No Threat," penned alongside fellow Floridian Denzel Curry. There's certainly more to discover on this one. Respect to Anonymuz, who has come a long way since his inclusion on our Artists To Watch series. Expect big things to come from this one.
