The talk show host is opening up about her health struggles.

Wendy Williams openly admitted last year that she was suffering from an autoimmune disorder called Graves' Disease, which directly effects the thyroid causing irritability, muscle weakness, a fast heartbeat, poor tolerance of heat, unintentional weight loss, and sleeping problems.

During this year's Graves' Disease & Thyroid Foundation 2018 Patients and Family Conference, the talk show host provided a video message for attendees detailing her personal struggles with the condition. Williams was diagnosed with Graves' Disease and a thyroid disorder 19 years ago, and notes how "everything was fine. I had the radioactive iodine [medication], taking my pill a day, minding my own business. Then back in the fall or maybe around July of last year, I started feeling weird in the head but I’m thinking, ‘OK, this is maybe a casualty of menopause or we were ramping up for season nine of the ‘Wendy Show.’ So, it wasn’t until I passed out on my own show [in October] that … Anyway, life has completely changed."

She then admits how her main issue was an improper medication dosage, whilst also detailing how she has given up wearing stiletto heals in lieu of her condition. "The doctors tell me it’s going to take at least six months — maybe a year — to level off my medication, which is why I always wear flats. I’m not wearing heels and falling and tripping," as her illness directly effects her sense of balance.

Back in February, Williams took three weeks off from her eponymous talk show as per her physician's request, focusing more attentively on her well-being.
