Liam Neeson is one of the most well-known actors in the entire world. His role in Taken has been mimicked by many but he remains an icon for such a powerful performance in the thriller. When he made some controversial comments about race the other day, it was troubling for many of his fans and he has decided to clarify what he meant and why he even made the remark in the first place.
In case you missed it, Neeson admitted that after his friend was a victim of sexual abuse, he went out of his way to try and stand up for her. Neeson's friend's attacker was a black man, which triggered him to have a "primal urge" to go to predominantly-black neighborhoods and try to get into a fight. At one point, he referred to somebody as a "black b*****d." During an appearance on Good Morning America, he tried to clear up his statement by telling everybody that he is not "a racist."
In an attempt to be "honorable" to his friend who was attacked, Neeson said, "I went out deliberately into black areas in the city, looking to be set upon. It shocked me and it hurt me ... I did seek help, I went to a priest." He admits that he only did this on four or five different occasions and no violence occurred. The actor also told Robin Roberts that if his friend said that her attacker was a white man, he would have done the same thing.
