Here they are! The most anticipated & exciting part of every BET Hip-Hop Awards Show is arguably the cyphers, and now that this year’s show just wrapped airing on television, we can see how this year's crew did.
Last year, we saw the likes of Eminem, Fat Joe, J.I.D, CyHi The Prynce, 6LACK, Tee Grizzley, Denzel Curry, Zoey Dollaz, and Ski Mask the Slump God, among others holding their own on the mic, but could this year’s class top them? Maybe.
Tuesday night’s cyphers included rhymes from G Herbo, Vic Mensa, Nick Grant, Taylor Bennett, Casanova, Blocboy JB, YBN Cordae, Reason, Phora, Duckwrth, & more. There's also an all female lineup consisting of Bri Steves, Neelam Hakeem, Sharaya J, & Chika who all handles bars over Erykah Badu on the boards.
Going into the night, there was a lot of controversy surrounding Vic Mensa’s cypher as reports were saying he had some choice words about the late XXXTentacion, who’s mother was in attendance, and that he did. Vic rapped, "only time you bear arms is in a wife beater, loser/Your favorite rapper's a domestic abuser/ Name a single Vic Mensa song, XXX we all know you won't live that long. I don't respect niggas posthumously/ homicide ain't new to me, catch up Akadmiks at your eulogy."
