This week, Diggy Simmons made some noise when the emcee took to Instagram to upload a classic car freestyle, packed the brim with nothing but lyrical prowess over Jay-Z's "Who You Wit II" track. It was a clear shot at reminding us of just how talented the offspring of Rev Run is. Turns out, the freestyle doubled as a maneuver into Simmons's latest, a new video for his "Anchors" track.
The song can originally be found on Diggy's Lighten Up effort, which arrived late last year. Keeping the aesthetic that the XXL Freshman Class alum has been boasting as of late, the "Anchors" selection features a nostalgic backdrop captured by director HDTay.
If in search for proof of Diggy's lyricism, "Anchors" is it. Over a backdrop composed of musically rich elements, but no drums, Diggy goes on a calm assault with relaxed yet calculated delivery: "Still again, niggas empty-minded gotta fill em in/Either with a bullet or a busy pen."
