Melania Trump changes the story about her infamous jacket.

This summer, First Lady of the United States Melania Trump traveled to McAllen, Texas where a large number of families were greatly affected by a  separation crisis sparked by the policies of her husband, President Trumps's administration. It was then that Melania was captured wearing an army green jacket emblazoned in the words, "I really don't care. Do U?"

Naturally, Melania's wardrobe became the source of a media circus with many speculating about any subliminal messages the choice may have revealed. A spokesperson for Melania, Stephanie Grisham, insisted that the attention and speculation were unwarranted as it was simply just a jacket. "It's a jacket," she told media outlets. "There was no hidden message." She followed up her message with a tweet reading "If media would spend their time & energy on her actions & efforts to help kids - rather than speculate & focus on her wardrobe - we could get so much accomplished on behalf of children. #SheCares #ItsJustAJacket."

In a recent interview with ABC News, Melania opted to change the narrative revealing that the jacket did, in fact, bear a message for the masses. " [The jacket] for the people and for the left-wing media who are criticizing me. And I want to show them that I don't care," she said.

Though the jacket almost certainly had no bearing on Melania's interaction with the families she visited in Texas this past June, the recent revelation begs the question of why the FLOTUS chose to lie about the jacket in the first place.
