Jude Law will be making heavy rounds at Comic-Con for the next few years. Law is diving into the Wizard World of Harry Potter in the upcoming film The Crimes of Grindelwald, where he will play the most beloved wizard of the franchise. Young Albus Dumbledore will be explored in depth, and his intimate relationship with the villainous Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) will ultimately set up the events that unfold in the Harry Potter movies. Law is also set to star alongside Brie Larson in Captain Marvel. His role is billed as Mar-Vell, a hero that has gone toe to toe with Thanos in the comics. Still, Marvel is expected to change his origins a bit, and Law wasn't willing to spill the beans.
The actor stopped by the Late Show with Stephen Colbert where he was probed about his roles in both films. Apparently, working with the British is much more refined than working with Americans. Law reveals that on the set of Grindelwald, producers just expect the actors to keep their secrets under wraps. “With Fantastic Beasts, they’re like, ‘We assume you’re not gonna give any secrets away, and if you do, we’re going to tell you not to again. Then we may quietly kill you," joked Law. With Marvel, they hire staff just to follow their actors around at times. Law admits that one staff member was tasked with making sure he covered up his costume whenever he left the changing room.
“On set they would say, ‘Mr. Law, we’re ready for you,’" he explained. "And you’d step out in your suit and he’d be like, ‘Put the cloak on! Put the cloak on! Hide! Put the hood up!’ I mean, everywhere you went. My children visited the set and they were running after them. ‘Sign the NDAs! Sign the NDAs! Who are these guys?’ It was tight! Scary.” That sounds like something Marvel Studios would do.
