As he preps the arrival of her Chapter 38 studio album, R&B veteran Monica has dropped off her latest “Commitment” single, a guitar-driven ballad that serves as a proper entrance from the singer for the 2019 run.
On the selection, Monica echoes the need for nothing more than commitment and consistency in a relationship. “I ain’t hard to please/I don’t need a lot,” she sings.
When it arrives, Chapter 38 will be Mon’s first studio arrival since her Code Red album of 2015 and her first under her MonDeenise imprint since parting ways with RCA Records. If this track is any indication, Chapter 38 will be a timeless offering that reaches back into the more clear-cut R&B stylings of Monica while also giving a nod to the more modern soundscapes of the genre.
I need good sex and commitment
From somebody loyal, understanding
Who won’t change up
Take advantage of my emotions or my feelings
