While Young Thug is a master of off-the-wall flows and hilarious punchlines, it isn't often that he gets personal on a track, choosing mostly instead to rap about standard rap topics like money, lean, and high fashion.
However, his verse on Lil Baby's "Right Now," off his Harder Than Ever album, shows a different side of Thug, and has him getting brutally honest about the trials and tribulations that comes with fame.
During his verse, in the midst of his usual flexing about his ice, Thug raps, "My baby mama got pregnant / had to buy a bitch a car to get an abortion / She just wanna see tears and sad faces on my shorty / But I can't get mad, that's the way it goes when you're fortunate." Thug is, first and foremost, an engaged man. He proposed to his girlfriend Jerrika Karlae back in 2015, so for him to admit that he got her pregnant on a track is quite surprising. Secondly, Thug already has six children from four different women, so for one of them to threaten him in order to get an abortion is sure to take a price on anyone's state of mind.
Thug also acknowledges his recent woes, rapping, "My last two years were the worst ones in my career, but I'm still rich as you." Thug released 2 albums last year, Beautiful Thugger Girls and Super Slimey with Future, so professionally it seemed like his career was going fine. But the trials of fame are many, and perhaps Thug is beginning to put his fame and fortune into perspective.
