Anderson .Paak is arguably one of the game's most talented songwriters right now, with an impressive repertoire to show for it. While plenty of fans speak highly of his 2016 album Malibu, there are many who originally discovered his music through Dr. Dre's 2015 album Compton. While Compton is in itself a criminally underrated body of work, .Paak's contributions are among the highlights, with spirited performances on "Animals," "Deep Water" "All In A Day's Work" and more; in some ways, Anderson was to Compton what Hittman was to 2001. Suffice it to say, he soon found himself signed to Aftermath Records, and has since enjoyed the benefits of having Dr. Dre on his team.
Now, on the heels of his excellent new single "Bubblin," Paak has been steadily hitting that promotional tour, recently stopped by Hot 97 for a discussion. Naturally, the good Doctor came up, and Paak proceeded to open up about their dynamic as both friends and collaborators. He recalls his first meeting with Dre, stating ""I went over there, I went to Record One, and I walked in the first people I meet was Dre and D.O.C. They was watching the playoffs....Both of them are just like, tall as fuck, and I was like, 'Wow, what's up man?'"
