What was he thinking?

A teenager from Florida has drawn ire online after an image of his "promposal" to his girlfriend went viral. In the photograph, Noah Crawley is holding a sign that reads "f I was black, I’d be picking cotton, but I’m white, so I’m picking u 4 prom."

Crawley's girlfriend shared the invitation on Snapchat, captioning the photograph with heart-eyed emojis.

The 18 year-old attends Riverview High School in Sarasota, and has since been criticized by his peers who are "disgusted" by his message. "It shows that racism is still alive and well in our society, and it shows that racism is still alive in my generation and it is something that we as the youth will have to continue to fight against," reveals Anton Kernohan, a senior at the same educational institution Crawley is currently enrolled in.

Additionally, Sarasota County Schools promptly released a statement in relation to the controversy. "Although this message is one student’s opinion, we take the matter of racial relations and school safety seriously, and we look forward to working with our students and these outside groups to have a meaningful and informative dialogue and expanded curriculum related to this important national topic."

Naturally, Twitter sounded off on the debacle, and users were similarly appalled.
