Could Kanye 2024 actually be a thing?

Kanye West may have been more serious about his plans to run for president than we initially thought. In a new interview on the Dan Wootton Interview, West's close friend, and at times, the person willing to talk some sense into the rapper in the midst of his Trump praise, has shared some insight into West's presidential run, which he feels is by no means a joke.

"Yeah, I think he’s serious," said John. "I’d guess he’d run as an independent, but he’s never told me anything about what party he would run from. But he’s said multiple times that he’s interested in running for president... I think that's a part of why he likes Trump. I think he sees some aspects of himself in Trump and sees that Trump winning makes it feel like he could do it too."

Later on, he spoke of the texts he sent in rebuttal to his public Trump support. Kanye later posted the texts on his Twitter; something John wasn't expecting. "I was stunned when he posted the texts. But then, my other side of me was like I'm glad I said what I said, and I'm glad people know what I said to him because I think so many people were worried that Kanye was saying the things he was saying and there weren't people advising him differently," he said. Though they've discussed the matter privately, Kanye has not swayed John's political beliefs whatsoever. "I think it’s pretty overwhelming from the perspective of African Americans – we believe [Trump]’s a racist, we believe he’s not a good human being," he said.

The conversation comes only a few days after Kanye doubled down on his presidential announcement, suggesting he will run in 2024 rather than the previously stated 2020. He first spoke of a presidential run at the 2015 MTV VMAs.
