The legendary Slick Rick has solidified a place in Bronx history.

Hip-hop historians and purists alike rejoice. Rap forefather Slick Rick has solidified his spot in the hip-hop pantheon, pioneering lyrical storytelling throughout iconic albums like 1988's The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick. Now, it has been announced that the rapper is being honored in accordance to his accomplishments. His name shall literally be raised for all to see. The British-American rapper will be officially inducted into the Bronx Walk Of fame, in a ceremony set to take place on Sunday May 20th. Along with #MeToo founder Tarana Burke and actress Maggie Siff, Slick Rick will find his moniker immortalized in a street sign along Grand Concourse.

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz issued a statement on the recent inductees, saying "We’re proud to welcome back the sons and daughters of The Bronx to celebrate their accomplishments and induct them to the Bronx Walk of Fame. As it happens, the ceremony will happen to be celebrating the impending thirtieth anniversary of the aforementioned Great Adventures album, which will officially come of age on November 1st.

While it's been over a decade since Slick Rick's last album, it's always great to see a hip-hop legend celebrated for his contributions to the culture. Rick's signature style proved influential over a variety of rappers, from Eminem to Nas to Ghostface Killah. Congrats to the eye-patch rocking legend!
