Giveon wants to "take a stride through your garden."

Giveon's new "Garden Kisses" is destined to be an rnb hit. Although it probably has too much emotional depth and is too slow to be a radio mainstay, this will doubtless be a go-to for anyone who's in love or recently heartbroken. One of the song's most obvious strengths is in its "oohs." The "ooh" is a staple of any kind of emotional music, from rnb to country, but Giveon has just notched his own entry into the historical timeline of the "ooh" with this song.

Although he's from Long Beach, the home of Vince Staples, this is no "Norf Norf." Giveon's influences tend more towards Mary J. Blige, Sade, Denise Williams and Anita Baker, who his mother played around the house and although you can here the influence, Giveon has his own thing going. AS he put it, “I want them[the listeners] to take away originality and I want to them say ‘ok, this is something different, this is not like what we know.’” He has succeeded.

Quotable Lyrics

I might get a ticket tonight, trying to make it to your crib
I might even lose my license, the way I'm drivin baby
Please sprout off of me your tulips are my fate
You gon' be my blessing tonight, so keep your eyes wide
I'm doing sixty-five
In a forty hopin' that I don't get spotted
This ain't no DUI, just wanna take a stride
Through your garden.
