While The Oprah Winfrey Show is long over, the media mogul continues to inspire and empower the people around her. On The Ellen DeGeneres Show – what some may consider the former show's spiritual successor – Oprah surprises longtime-fan, comedian and actress, Tiffany Haddish. During Haddish's talk with Ellen, she speaks about her time as an extra on an Oprah-produced film, Their Eyes Were Watching God. "She had walked by and I was making all the other extras laugh… She said, 'You’re a very funny young lady," Haddish recalls. The two women agreed to keep in contact, but unfortunately, it never materialized.
After listening to the anecdote, Ellen simply asked, "Let’s ask her why she didn’t write back. Oprah, why didn’t you write back?" The preview clip of the episode ends there, but Winfrey and Haddish have already hinted at the outcome. Captioned, "Look who I just surprised @theellenshow.. @tiffanyhaddish watch tomorrow," Oprah posted a photo of her and a teary-eyed Haddish backstage.
Afterwards, if you visited Tifanny's Instagram page, you would've believed she started adopting a 3-photos-in-a-row aesthetic, reposting the photo three times. However on the final image, the actress wrote "SO JUST SO YALL KNOW I POSTED IT THREE TIMES BECAUSE I AM THAT DAMN HAPPY! YES! YES! YES I CRIED AND YES I ASKED HER TO BE MY AUNTIE! SO ALL THANKS BE TO GOD FOR ALWAYS COMING THRU YOU HEAR MY PRAYS AND ANSWER ACCORDINGLY AMEN!" Hard work really does pay off.
