One full run-through of XXXTentacion's new music video for "SAD!" and you will begin to understand the depths of a young, troubled artist's mind. Yesterday, it was announced through the late rapper's Instagram story that he would be posthumously releasing the music video for his No. 1 single "SAD!" With his public memorial taking place yesterday, it appears as though during the filming of the visuals, he may have been foreshadowing the tragic events in his life. Written and creative directed by X himself, "SAD!" will be the first step in understanding how his mind worked.
The 6-minute long affair goes through several scenes, all of which are equally eerie. Thought-provoking and captivating, XXX asks the viewer a series of questions pertaining to themselves and why they're watching the video in text-form. Finally, when he appears on screen, he is visiting his own open-casket memorial, walking up to his body, laying with his iconic half-blonde-half-black locks. Sitting hunched over and avoiding a robed, masked figure, XXX contemplates several existential offerings before he leans over his own casket, only to be grabbed by an awakening arm grabbing his throat. That's when the music begins, blasting one of the singer's most popular songs.
