A reported settlement brings Carmelo Anthony and La La closer to finalizing their divorce after years of living separate lives.

It took nearly a decade after their initial separation, but one of basketball's most recognizable former couples is finally close to settling their divorce. Carmelo Anthony and La La Anthony have reportedly reached an agreement five years after the actress filed to end their marriage. Although they've been living separate lives for some time, the legal process has continued well beyond their breakup.

Court records reviewed by TMZ show that the former spouses notified the court of their settlement this week. The terms remain confidential, and a judge has yet to approve the agreement. Neither Carmelo nor La La has publicly addressed the latest development.

The couple married in July 2010 after several years together and became a familiar fixture at NBA games and events. However, their relationship underwent difficulties, and they separated in 2017 amid allegations that Carmelo had been unfaithful. They eventually attempted to reconcile, but La La filed for divorce in June 2021, citing irreconcilable differences. At the time, sources close to the pair maintained that their separation was amicable and that they remained committed to raising their son, Kiyan.

La La Anthony Previously Opened Up About Her Difficult Divorce

Although the two have maintained a cordial relationship publicly, La La hasn't pretended that ending their marriage was easy. In a 2022 conversation with Charlamagne Tha God, she described the decision to walk away as particularly difficult because she'd spent nearly her entire adult life with Carmelo. "Staying is easier. Walking away is harder," she explained, discussing the challenge of rebuilding her life while keeping things stable for their son.

She revisited those feelings in August 2025 during an appearance on Angie Martinez's IRL podcast. "The hardest part of my life and then playing it out publicly," she said, describing the emotional toll of their separation. La La acknowledged that certain memories still hurt years later, even as she'd found ways to move forward.

Despite the personal challenges, both parents have continued supporting Kiyan's basketball career. Their 19-year-old son is now playing at Syracuse University, where Carmelo famously led the Orange to the 2003 NCAA championship. In March, Carmelo spoke about the effort required to maintain a healthy co-parenting relationship, emphasizing that communication remained essential even after the marriage ended.
