Kanye West remains an incredibly controversial artist, and it is easy to see why. The artist went on various anti-semitic rants back in 2022, all while finding himself aligned with the likes of Candace Owens, Alex Jones, and Charlie Kirk.
However, in recent months, Ye has apologized for his past behavior. Given the severity of West's past, millions of fans have yet to forgive him. Some have even completely sworn off his music. That said, there are still those who prioritize the music and don't seem to care about the things Ye says in his personal life. Even if some of those things do, in fact, bleed into the music (Ex: "HH").
This past weekend, Ye found himself performing in Chicago as part of a pair of homecoming concerts at Soldier Field. Both shows were sold out, and they featured some major cameos from some of the biggest artists in hip-hop. It was a triumphant moment for Ye, even if some remain skeptical about his personal development.
In fact, according to Pollstar, 129,562 tickets were sold across the two nights. Moreover, Ye grossed $29.8 million with these shows. He even passed Beyoncé's record with a $15.76 million night during the second show.
Kanye West Runs His Numbers Up
These numbers prove that despite everything, Kanye can still bring fans out to his shows. This is especially true in Chicago, where he remains beloved by fans in his hometown.
The concert did elicit some conversation about whether or not it is ethical to go see Ye these days. His past controversies are far from behind him. After all, Hitler worship is one of those lines you simply cannot cross, regardless of your mental state.
Only time will tell whether or not Ye will be able to bring back more fans to his side.
