Tomi Lahren may have overstepped on this one.

Tomi Lahren, the conservative media pundit and newly-minted Fox News personality, has been known to stir the pot on social media with her statements about political and topical issues. This week, however, was different. Lahren was pissing people off with a visual statement instead of a verbal one: her Halloween costume.

The TV personality took to Instagram yesterday (October 28th) to showcase her outfit for this weekend's Halloween festivities, which included an American flag draped over her shoulders. Her caption to the photo left little to the imagination as far as her intent goes, writing the following: "Oh LA get ready to find your safe spaces! What am I? Well if you’re a conservative, I’m American AF. If you’re a lib, I’m 'offensive.' Let’s go. #TeamTomi#halloween #MAGA #Merica#makeHalloweenGreatAgain" Not only was her costume a head-turner as a political affront, but it also technically violated a portion of the U.S. code.

According to Uproxx, her Star Spangled get-up looks to have gone against the U.S. code section that governs respect for the American flag. You can read the distinction below.

"The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free. The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free."

The irony of the situation was not lost on several Twitter users, who were quick to point out Lahren's transgression.

The idea for the costume itself may have come a few days ago, when Lahren tweeted out a picture of Donald Trump hugging the American flag and using the hashtag #RelationshipGoals. What did you think of her costume? Out of line or fair game? Let us know what you think in the comments.
