Trinidad James' "Hipster Stripclub" Video Was Worth The 3 Year Wait
Trinidad James
We didn't know what a hipster stripclub was before Trinidad James dropped his video for the "10 PC Mild" highlight, and honestly, we're still not sure. The song originally dropped on the mixtape way back in 2013, and made for one of the memorable moments on the project by pairing Imogen Heap like vocoders with trap drums. For some reason, he decided to drop the video today, and it's probably his weirdest one yet.

Trinidad James has been going extra hard to promote his new single, the DJ Mustard-produced "Just A Lil Thick," featuring some squawking from Mystikal and hilarity from comedian-turnt-rappa Lil Dicky. The trio teamed up for an official music video, that features an insane mansion party, filled with thick bitches.

Though best known for timeless turn-up anthem "All Gold Everything," Trinidad James is actually a pretty eccentric and introspective guy. He looks inward on Raak-produced track "Doin Me." "Sometimes I wish I never knew fame," he raps.  The cryptic Vincent Lou-directed vid for the song tells the story of a cave-dwelling shaman who encounters a child running through the wilderness. Here is James' artistic statement:

Trinidad James has had a strange career tangent since breaking through with "All Gold Everything," but he seems to have found  a comfortable independent pocket to sit in after his issues with majors. Trinidad James has always been known for his flashy style as much as his music, and as we heard on his breakout hit, "All Gold Everything," he's always made sure to brag about his fashion on record. "Hype Beasts" is yet another example of Trinidad presenting himself as a style icon, giving us a history of his sneaker purchases and wearing the title proudly.

Plenty of rappers have made the jump to EDM hypeman for a track or two, including the likes of Waka Flocka and Lil Jon. It seems that Atlanta's loudest make the best crossover artists, so Trinidad James seems like a logical choice for UZ and Dirtyphonics' new record, "Hustle Hard".

CNN invited Trinidad James to discuss the use of the n-word for a panel discussion, in the wake of the SAE  fraternity controversy. As you are probably aware, the fraternity sang a racist chant, which went viral, and was shortly followed by another appalling video of the fraternity's elderly house mom singing along to Trinidad James' "All Gold Everything," with no hesitation to include the n-word.

About three weeks ago, we got the news that Trinidad James had parted ways with his major label, Def Jam. Signed on the strength of his song "All GOld Everything," the Atlanta rapper's career had hit an impasse after he dropped his 10 Pc. 2014 is a big year for Def Jam. The label is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and will be releasing a number of debut albums, including YG's already-dropped My Krazy Life, Lil Durk's Remember My Name, and of course, the first effort from Trinidad James. Trinidad was scooped up almost immediately after his track, "All Gold Everything" went viral, but his album is still without a release date. The rapper released an anthem paying homage to his label earlier in the year, and the banger, simply titled "Def Jam" now has an official video.
