In a time where most of our faves are problematic, shows of integrity seem to be a rarity. Moses Sumney graces us with his moral fortitude by canceling his performance at Montreal's International Jazz Festival, the largest festival of its kind. While Many have chosen to remain silent about the festival's choice to promote a racist musical and even extend its run by a full week, Sumney decides to make a statement about the issue and back it up with quantifiable action. Yesterday, he reached out to his fans to inform them of his show's cancellation. The statement comes in the form of an Instagram post that includes his plan to replace his Jazz Festival performance with a counter event.

In his statement, Moses Sumney specifies how a SLĀV show-goer slapped a person of color who was protesting the event. At this point, he recognized that he could not partake in the festival's programming "in good conscience." A number of celebs can be spotted in the comments section supporting his statement. Janelle Monae, Zoe Kravitz, Chance The Rapper, Zoe Saldana and Teedra Moses are among the lot. Time will tell who else will raise their voice as SLĀV makes its way to the United States.
