Madlib revealed today that he and Freddie Gibbs have been working on another joint album: "Bandana."

Here's some news that should please just about any hip-hop fan: Freddie Gibbs and Madlib are teaming up for a second joint album, the follow-up to the masterful Piñata, released in March 2014. Their new effort also boasts a three-syllable title: Bandana. Madlib made the revelation today during a live-streamed interview with Red Bull Music Academy in NYC.

When the interview becomes available, it's definitely worth a listen, though the news of Bandana looks to be the main takeaway. Certain attendees and people watching online tweeted about today's discussion, and it seems that Madlib also mentioned Kanye West, for whom he produced "No More Parties in L.A." In January, just after the release of "No More Parties in L.A.," Kanye posted a studio pic of himself next to the track's other collaborator, Kendrick Lamar. "We just wanna thank Madlib for these 6 beat CDs he sent over," Kanye captioned the post.

Madlib was asked if he's aware of any Kanye collabs that might be coming out soon, and apparently, he responded by admitting that Freddie Gibbs had grabbed many of the choice instrumentals on the beat CDs that had been obtained by Kanye. And Gibbs supposedly beat Kanye to the punch by quickly recording to many of the beats. Fans will likely hear the mastered versions of those recordings on Bandana
