A monster shark will feel the wrath of Statham.

Jason Statham is set to star in Warner Bros. new sci-fi epic thriller entitled The Meg. The film is centered around a massive Megalodon shark, that will undoubtedly be beaten senseless at some point by Statham, who is one of the biggest action stars in the world. A trailer for the film was recently released, and it gives fans a first look at the epic action movie that is set to hit theaters this summer.

The movie is based on the New York Times best-seller by Steve Allen (called Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror) and was filmed off the coast of China. Jon Turteltaub is set to direct the film. Turteltaub's catalog of movies includes Cool Runnings, National Treasure, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, and Last Vegas.

According to Deadlinethe plot for the movie is as follows: "A deep-sea submersible that’s part of an international undersea observation program has been attacked by a massive creature and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew — and the ocean — from this unstoppable threat."

Check out the trailer for The Meg below, and catch Statham battling the killer shark on August 10.
