#TBT: Ms. Lauryn Hill
Lauryn Hill occupies an almost saint-like place in the rap/R&B canon. In 1998, after the dissolution of The Fugees, a 23-year-old Hill released her debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and set the record for first-week sales by a female artist. She hasn't released a proper album and has largely avoided the public eye since. Thus, her nearly unbelievable possession of both a voice of gold and a snarling, swaggering, technically proficient rapping persona takes on the feeling of a myth that grows larger with each retelling.
Wyclef Jean Calls Young Thug A "Modern Tupac"
The opening track on Young Thug's latest project, Jeffery, is called "Wyclef Jean," perhaps partly due to its reggae influence. Wyclef Jean himself shows up on the project's final song, which is, for reasons not entirely clear, entitled "Kanye West." Speaking to Pigeons & Planes, the 46-year-old Fugees singer and emcee explains how Thugger had reached out for them to work together and how their Jeffery collab eventually came about. Since their first meeting, Thug and Wyclef have developed a close rapport.
Young Thug's "No, My Name Is Jeffery" (Review)
Some artists pay homage to their idols with covers albums, Young Thug does it with No, My Name Is Jeffery, an album that actually features two of the heroes he names, but not on the tracks named after them. The fact that Wyclef Jean and Gucci Mane are both on the album but don't appear on the tracks "Wyclef Jean" or "Guwop" describes Young Thug's songwriting style in a nutshell: he'll name tracks "Picacho" and "Quaterback," but he sure as hell won't devote more than one line to either Pokémon or football.
Young Thug's "Pop Man" Is Now Officially "Kanye West" On Apple Music
Young Thug's new mixtape, No, My Name Is Jeffery, arrived on Friday, complete with a tracklist inspired by Young Thug's idols. Among the titles were "RiRi," "Guwop," "Future Swag," "Webbie," and strangely, "Harambe," but one collaboration with Wyclef Jean, "Pop Man," remained an outlier on the project.
Young Thug Teases Collaboration With Wyclef Jean Releasing Today
The artist formerly known as Young Thug is planning to release his new project Jeffery very soon, but he’s been cagey as to exactly when. Last we heard, Travi$ Scott (who has his own project delay issues) was causing the hold up due to a verse he hadn’t submitted yet. While we haven’t heard anything more about the collaboration between Thugger and Travi$ Scott, last night Young Thug post a video on Instagram apologizing to his fans for the delay in the project.

Classic Rotation: The Fugees "The Score"
The Fugees second album, The Score, has garnered a significant amount of critical acclaim over the years. The LP turns 19 today, February 13th 2015, and we wanted to take a look back at the record’s creation, influence, and above all: music. The Score has been called one of the best hip-hop albums of all-time, right up there with the likes of Illmatic and Ready to Die. The album peaked at #1 on the hip-hop charts and overall on the Billboard 200 charts.
Busta Rhymes Broke The Windshield Of A Tour Bus The First Time He Heard Eminem
If any rapper was going to shatter a windshield by banging their head, it would be Busta Rhymes. The "Break Your Neck" MC is clearly a fan of the violent head bang, and in a hilarious new interview, he reveals that the dance move once decimated the entire windshield on Wyclef Jean's tour bus. The music that spurred on this incident? Eminem's Slim Shady LP, obviously.
Dizzy Wright Reveals Cover Art & Release Date For "The Golden Age" Mixtape, Talks Features, Production & Inspiration
Yesterday, HNHH had the opportunity to speak with Dizzy Wright directly about his upcoming mixtape The Golden Age, and we learned quite a lot about it. According to the Las Vegas emcee, both the sound, sampling and subject matter of the record harken back to early 90s Hip Hop, but he's making sure to keep it relevant by today's standards as well. He described the tape as a "masterpiece" that is "full of substance," and emphasized the importance of storytelling in its creation. "It was inspired, mainly, by the storytelling of the 90s," he explained.
Wyclef Jean Reveals Upcoming Album Title & Speaks On Lauryn Hill's Tax Problems
Wyclef Jean recently got back in to the music, releasing his free project April Showers. He's not stopping there though, as that was just a warm-up for his upcoming album.

Wyclef's new project will feature some big name features including T.I., 2 Chainz, Trae The Truth, Waka Flocka, and more. However, what Wyclef said he was most excited for was the unknown features. Wyclef stated,
Wyclef & Waka Flocka Collaborate, Create New Genre Of 'Trap 'N Roll'
While Wyclef Jean was a very prominent artist in the 90s, his presence in hip hop has been rather small as of late.
Wyclef Recruits 2 Chainz, T.I., Waka Flocka For "April Showers" Mixtape
Wyclef Jean is planning to drop a mixtape this spring, entitled April Showers. We've already heard one song from the tape, "Hip Hop", and it promises to have plenty of collaborations.
Wyclef Jean Takes Blame For Fugees Breakup
Wyclef Jean grabbed headlines earlier this year when he opened up about his relationship with fellow Fugees member Lauryn Hill in his autobiography, Purpose: An Immigrant's Story. Clef paid a visit to Big Boy's Neighborhood at Power 106 radio station and delved into further detail.
