Trae Tha Truth is finally taking legal action to combat a radio ban in his hometown of Houston, Texas. The ban was instituted back in 2009 by radio station 97.9 The Box, after a shooting took place during an event they had staged in honour of Trae' commitment to community. The fallout from the situation points to Trae's tacit involvement in the shooting. At least 8 people were hit with automatic rifle fire. The details are bound to a police report.
Trae hasn't let the conditions of this ban, sour his relationship with the community. His annual Trae Day which gives back to community centres, has found renewed life without radio sponsorship. Trae continues to contribute the relief effort in Houston, following Hurricane Harvey.
The rapper is suing Radio One for alleged defamation, gross negligence and tortuous interference in correlation with the on-going ban.
To this day, Trae's Instagram bio provides a link to a gofundme, aiming to raise 300,000 towards rebuilding the city. Whether or not he is wrongfully accused in the shooting is up for debate, but one thing rests assured, the city is better represented with Trae at the peak of his powers.
