Sometimes the songs that get the most clicks are the most polarizing. Artists big enough to command all of that attention are no longer just at the mercy of their niche fanbases, and they also carry higher expectations than up-and-comers or more under-the-radar artists. We all know that big-name collaborations are also likely to draw in the clicks, but that throwing a bunch of stars on a beat is not a surefire recipe for success. This week, neither of our top two tracks received more than a 55% user rating.
This week's battle for most appearances in the top ten is complicated by Rae Sremmurd releasing two solo tracks and one as a group. If they're all credited to Sremmurd, they lead with three appearances; if Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee are counted as solo artists, they tie with Future, Chris Brown, and Logic with two apiece. New tracks barely missing out on spots this week include Gucci Mane, Migos, and Lil Yachty's "Solitaire" (#11), Wale's "Staying Power" (#12), Lil Yachty's "Most Wanted" (#14), and Dave East's "Set It Off" (#17).
10. Logic & Marshmello - Everyday
For his recent releases, Logic has opted to go the route of spontaneous loosies, which as someone who usually focuses on full-length releases, is a first for him. The latest of these is "Everyday," a track that pairs him with masked EDM producer Marshmello. It debuts at #10.
9. Slim Jxmmi - Brxnks Truck
Undoubtedly the more underrated half of Rae Sremmurd, Jxmmi delivered "Brxnks Truck" as the lead single from Jxmtroduction, his personal third of Sremm's upcoming triple album. This one garners a whopping 93% user rating and a #9 debut.
8. Blac Youngsta Feat. Chris Brown, Jeezy & Trey Songz - Booty (Remix)
Memphis' Blac Youngsta just released his debut album, 2.23, and this past week, he capped it off with a remix of its biggest single, "Booty." This star-studded version brings Chris Brown, Jeezy, and Trey Songz onboard for the strip club anthem. It debuts at #8.
7. Swae Lee - Hurt To Look
Arguably the most anticipated song of the three Rae Sremmurd shared last week is Swae's debut as a solo artist, "Hurt To Look." Poppy as predicted, the track charted higher than Jxmmi's, but received a slightly lower user approval rating of 80%. This one debuts at #7.
6. Logic - Overnight
Logic dropped off two tracks last week, the first being "Overnight," a track that debuted with a music video shot in Tokyo, and the second being the Marshmello-assisted "Everyday." Having had a few more days of eligibility on the chart, it's no surprise that "Overnight" is the top performer. It debuts at #6.
5. Rae Sremmurd Feat. Juicy J - Powerglide
Both Sremm solo cuts held their own this week, and the fact that they both debuted inside of the top ten portends good thing for the upcoming album, but rightfully so, the top performing song of the three is the one that pits them together. "Powerglide" also prominently features Juicy J and a sample of his old group Three 6 Mafia's "Side 2 Side," and it debuts at #5.
4. Chris Brown & Joyner Lucas - Stranger Things
Joyner Lucas has cashed in on the viral fame he's attracted after his controversial "I'm Not Racist" video and various freestyles by pairing with another polarizing figure, Chris Brown. They've apparently got a full collaborative album named after a Dan Brown novel (Angels & Demons) coming out, but first, they've debuted their single named after a Netflix show ("Stranger Things"). It debuts at #4.
3. Tory Lanez Feat. 50 Cent - Pieces
Unlike the two songs that place above it on the chart this week, Tory and Fif's "Pieces" has the highest user rating in our top ten this week, tying Chris Brown and Joyner Lucas with a 95%. "Pieces," a track taken from Tory's new album, Memories Don't Die, debuts at #3.
2. Future - I.C.W.N.T.
Future's been hinting at new music since the start of 2018, but it took until the last day of February for him to deliver his first solo single since last June's "You Da Baddest." "I.C.W.N.T." (AKA "I Can't Wife No Thot") arrived without much fanfare, with is fair, because it's a mid Future song and doesn't deserve any. It debuts at #2 but only gets a 55% user rating.
1. DJ Khaled Feat. Jay Z, Beyoncé & Future - Top Off
As "meh" as Future's new solo single is, even it can't top DJ Khaled's new single in terms of mediocrity. "Top Off" somehow squanders features from Fewtch, Jay Z, and (a rapping) Beyoncé, which is no easy feat. Only 45% of users liked it, but it still debuts at #1, which is an apt metaphor for Khaled's career at this point.
