While preparing to hit the studio with Daft Punk, The Weeknd shared a snippet from an unreleased song on Instagram Wednesday afternoon.
The only contextual hint he included was a cat emoji, which might mean that the song is produced by Cashmere Cat. Last night, Cashmere mentioned that he would release the first single from his album on Friday, so this appears to be the most likely scenario.
Listen to the snippet below. A flavorful gumbo of synths and disembodied vocals eventually gives away to The Weeknd's crescendoing falsetto. It's more House of Balloons than Beauty Behind the Madness. This song certainly has the potential to do some serious radio damage.
