Netflix doesn't seem to be content with being the most popular streaming service in the world. The streaming giant already has the entire millennial generation in the palm of their hand, and has surpassed cable titan Comcast in market value. Now, Variety is reporting that Netflix will be dabbling in the video game field as well.
Game developer Telltale is renown for their chapter by chapter method of storytelling when it comes to their titles. Telltale is responsible for a large catalog of popular games, including The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Batman: The Telltale Series, Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, and Jurassic Park: The Game. Netflix is teaming up with Telltale to bring two stories alive. The first would be an interactive series on the streaming site called Minecraft: Story Mode. Minecraft has been a popular open world game for the past several years, and Netflix will introduce an interactive series similar to Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale, and Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile. “Yes, we can confirm ‘Minecraft: Story Mode’ is a licensed five episode interactive narrative series coming to our service this fall,” a Netflix spokesperson told Variety.
Netflix's Stranger Things will also be getting a video game published by Telltale, but it won't be available on the streaming site.
