Jay Z and Nas had one of the best documented beefs in hip hop history. Nas' "Ether" has almost been universally accepted as the diss track that won the beef, with it's title even going on to become a verb within the rap community, but there are still many who disagree with this decision-- ScHoolboy Q being one of them.
“Honestly, I think Jay Z won,” Q said in an interview with VladTV. “I mean Nas is my favorite rapper, but Jay Z, he was pretty scandalous.”
The TDE rapper argued that many give Nas the win because they don't want to acknowledge that Hov is number one. “Jay is the best rapper and everybody don’t wanna believe that Jay – even though Nas is my favorite – Jay is like LeBron, Kobe, Jordan, people just wanna say no or hate,” he said. “He’s so good you got to hate him.”
ScHoolboy went on to offer another controversial opinion about Nas, calling It Was Written his favorite album from the NY legend, and questioning another canonized project-- Illmatic.
"Just because it was his first album, people always want to say that's the best," argued Q. "I think people get caught up in that. Honestly I think Stillmatic was even better than Illmatic."
