Another urban artist is joining the ranks of reality talent shows. Nicki Minaj made headlines when she joined American Idol, alongside her co-judge, Mariah Carey. Now artist/producer Pharrell Williams is set to join The Voice.
The Neptunes producer will replace Cee Lo Green who has left the show to pursue other projects for his burgeoning career. Williams joins R&B icon Usher who is a coach on the singing talent program, and Mr. Raymond had nothing but praise for the new member to the show, “A master of his craft, an artist, an innovator. Who better to have on my team than Pharrell? His ability to nurture and develop talent is invaluable and will truly benefit each and every one on my team.”
Pharrell’s name was floated around earlier before American Idol had decided on their fourth judge, along with Kanye West. Expect to see more artists in the hip hop community take the plunge as they are being paid exceptionally well for their contributions to these shows.
