Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne have been hip-hop collaborators for some time now. Most recently heard together on Nicki's hit "No Frauds," the two rappers have joined forces on tracks like "Only," "Knockout" and "High School." In fact, she sees herself has an apprentice of sorts who has learned a lot from Wayne over the years. In an Instagram post from March, she wrote the following:
"I am da ninja. Weezy is my sensei. So I call him Splinter. Faster than a sprinter. Gimme my chopsticks I'll have these rap btchs 4 dinner. ~ 😩 I'll never forget saying this line from one of my Mixtapes to Wayne maybe 8 or 9 years ago. He's on the freestyle with me called Go HARD. it was my first time listening to it WITH him in the same room. Same studio right here in Miami. 🎀🎀🎀He looked me dead in the eyes and in that (whisper voice), he smiled & said "I fuk wit it Nic, but the only thing is that... Splinter was a RAT. With that in mind, there's no way Minaj was missing Weezy's surprise birthday party that went down last night. Dressed in an all-red Givenchy outfit, rap's foremost femme fatale looked ready to party for one of the genre's all-time mixtape gods. The word on the street is that the party for Wayne was ultra-secret - so secret in fact that the rapper's own daughter, Reginae Carter, didn't even receive an invite. Actually, if it was a lower-key party, that wouldn't necessarily surprise me, since Lil Wayne was advised to take some time off after sustaining two seizures earlier this month. When his cake was brought out, Weezy acknowledged the passing of Playboy magnate Hugh Hefner, who died yesterday at the age of 91. In another picture that she shared to the social media platform, Nicki Minaj wished Lil Wayne a proper happy birthday, saying, "I'll kill for this one, just know. Happy Birthday @liltunechi Game Changing Legend vybez #YoungMoneyover everything." Happy belated birthday to one of the greats!
